Foreign Policy Update

IRAN

The US is continuing to prevent the Iranian regime from using the country’s natural resources to fund terror and support oppression.  The Departments of State, Treasury, and Justice have taken actions to constrain the regime’s oil and petrochemical sales.  The US is filing of a complaint to seek the forfeiture of two shipments of Iranian missiles the U.S. Navy seized in transit from Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps to militant groups in Yemen, as well as the sale of approximately 1.1 million barrels of Iranian petroleum the US previously took custody of from four foreign-flagged oil tankers bound for Venezuela.  These actions represent the government’s largest-ever forfeiture actions for fuel and weapons shipments from Iran.

CHINA

On Thursday, Secretary of State Michael Pompeo strongly condemned the arrest and detention of three student democracy activists and calls on Hong Kong authorities to release those that remain detained immediately. The Beijing-controlled Hong Kong government continues to stifle dissent, repress public opinion, and use law enforcement for political purposes, according the US Government.

In a written statement Pompeo said: “The People’s Republic of China has violated its international obligations under the 1984 Sino-British Joint Declaration, while the Chinese Communist Party and its Hong Kong proxies crush the promised autonomy of Hong Kong, and eviscerate Hong Kong’s respect for human rights, including the rights to peaceful assembly and freedom of expression. The United States stands with the people of Hong Kong.”

INDIA

Secretary Pompeo and Secretary of Defense Mark Esper were in India for the third annual US-India 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue this week.  The two nations welcomed the elevation of the U.S.-India Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership, which is vital to security and stability in the region and the world.

Pompeo reaffirmed the increasingly close U.S.-India relationship and the shared goals among like-minded Indo-Pacific countries for regional security and prosperity and welcomed the elevation of the US-India Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership. Talks also included ways to advance the 21st century defense partnership and expand information-sharing, defense trade, joint service coordination, and interoperability between the two.

Like the actions taken by Germany, Lithuania, and Kosovo, and the commitment by Serbia earlier this year, Estonia’s decisive action recognizes that Hizballah is a terrorist organization in its entirety and poses a significant threat in Europe and elsewhere.”

CUBA

The Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) took action to remove Cuba’s military from the process of sending remittances to Cuba. Once these changes to the Cuban Assets Control Regulations (CACR) are effective, persons subject to US jurisdiction will no longer be authorized to process remittances to or from Cuba involving any entity or sub-entity on the State Department’s Cuba Restricted List. These changes provide for a 30-day period before they are effective in order to allow for technical implementation.

According to the State Department, remittances to Cuba can still flow, but they will not flow through the hands of the Cuban military, which uses those funds to oppress the Cuban people and to fund Cuba’s interference in Venezuela. “The United States supports the principle that Cubans should be able to prosper and support their families without the Cuban military utilizing their hard currency earnings as it wishes. The Cuban government and military have created a system that seizes hard currency through military-operated financial mechanisms, such as FINCIMEX and AIS, and takes a cut from the remittances ordinary Cubans receive from abroad, including from the United States,” according to the State Department. It is the only country in the hemisphere where the military takes a cut of remittances. The Cuban regime forces ordinary Cubans to use the remittances they have remaining to buy goods at marked-up prices from government-controlled stores.

SUDAN

The US is sending $81 million in humanitarian assistance to respond to the humanitarian crisis in Sudan. It includes more than $64 million from the Agency for International Development and $17 million from the State Department’s Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration. The Statement says its total humanitarian response for vulnerable people, including those affected by recent flooding as well as refugees and those displaced by conflict in Darfur, South Sudan, and elsewhere in the region to more than $436 million in Fiscal Year 2020, including for the COVID-19 humanitarian response.

China Plans for Greater Aggressiveness

This week, from October 26-29th, China held its “Fifth Plenum of the 19th Communist Party of China Central Committee.” While the name of the meeting may sound dull, what it reveals about the country’s pivot to national security, technological independence and reforming global trade and governance is not….

The CCP released its new five-year plan covering the years 2021-2025 and what it deliberately hides, as well as what it reveals, of the communist giant’s plans should cause concern to the Western free world. China’s leadership is calling for an increasingly aggressive foreign policy agenda and an implicit domestic growth target of 5% annually. The communique released at the end of the four-day meeting states that China’s the core strategy going forward is one of “dual circulation.” In reality, however, this is an going, long-term, economic growth paradigm to guide how China relates economically to the world. Ostensibly the current version of the document is labeled as a new program to cut dependence on overseas markets, brought on by challenges from the Trump Administration’s holding Beijing accountable for its economic, military, and political actions. Its roots, however, go back over a decade.

The current document expects China to face a challenging external environment in the coming years which it characterized as filled with geopolitical flashpoints, heightened distrust among capitals in the post-Cold War era, trouble in the US-China relationship, and investment trade-offs between efficiency and resiliency for large Chinese companies. Beijing hopes economically to achieve a 70% self-sufficiency rate by using credit subsidies, intellectual property acquisitions and public sector enterprises by 2025. By 2049 it intends to dominate these areas globally.

An analysis of the plan indicates that China is shifting its strategy further away from one of state support for its failing businesses to protection for its next wave of industries. China says it is attempting to rebalance the global supply chain during what it expects to be a “protracted conflict” in a “complex international environment.” The industries China is choosing to support indicates that the world not only is going to face a trade war with the communist giant but also one that is technology-based. The plan is designed to move China’s 1.4 billion population away from a labor-based economy and put it in direct competition with India and the United States. The accelerated domestic orientation is intended to help China ride through rough global economic shocks.

As China becomes more assertive on the external front it expects to “reshape” global governance and trade as it expects the United States to become weaker and have less influence in the world. To reinforce this movement the plan calls for a greater emphasis on its military build-up and an expansion of its civilian-military fusion program. The CCP document also claims “the relative strength of global power has shifted” in a reference to conflicts in the US-China relationship. It is interesting to note that the timeframe China says this refers to is “the last 100 years.” This is important in that China still operates as if it is recovering from the Unequal Treaties period in the last 19th and early 20th centuries. The CCP is calli ng for a more aggressive foreign policy and increased military competition and influence.

This moves Deng’s Xiaoping’s famous 1987 statement about reaching the level of a “moderately developed country” by 2050 back to 2035. New strategies that supplement those already in place reinforce that the Chinese leadership intends an aggressive agenda moving forward, one slowed only by the Trump Administration. The United States can expect to see increased intellectual property theft and other illiberal trade policies to escalate in the coming years. The CCP and President Xi Jinping do not show an indication of living within the international norms-based system which has brought the world relative peace a stability. It is, perhaps, more important than ever that the United States and the Western world hold China accountable for its trade infractions, human rights abuses, and militarily aggressive moves at it modernizes its economy. Only time will tell if China has the ability to become a responsible player on the world stage.

Staring into the Abyss

America is staring into the face of the abyss, the same threatening realm faced by the people of Russia when the Bolsheviks took over, the Germans in the 1930’s, and, most recently, the citizens of Venezuela when Chavez first sought power. The rhetoric by the forces that took over those nations are deeply similar to the American Left.

The Obama-Biden Administration promised to fundamentally transform America, and did. During those eight years, America became more divided, government became more powerful, the economy stagnated. Freedom of speech and religion were relentlessly assaulted. The IRS was used to attack the Tea Party. The Department of Justice was employed to harass those who disagreed with the Obama- Biden Administration on climate change.

Internationally, America’s interests were subordinated to the financial goals of corrupt officials. Hillary Clinton became enriched by the sale of the basic ingredient of nuclear weapons to Russia. Biden’s family gained vast sums from dealing with Chinese organizations linked to Beijing’s military.

The world’s most dangerous terrorist organization, ISIS, rose to unprecedented power. China invaded the Philippine Exclusive economic Zone with impunity. Russia took over portions of the Ukraine. Obama was caught on an open microphone promising to do more to weaken America while speaking to a Russian leader. The U.S. defense budget was slashed. Our traditional ally Israel was pushed aside, inexplicably, in favor of Iran.

In what was one of the most controversial programs ever initiated by a federal agency, the Federal Communications Commission, led by Obama appointees, attempted to develop an effort entitled “critical information needs” (known as CIN) involving federal oversight of broadcasters and journalists throughout America. It would have placed government employees in the private internal conversations and meetings of journalists, media organizations, and even internet sites.

In 2014, Senator Charles Schumer (D-NY) introduced a measure in the Senate to amend the First Amendment in order to be able to restrict paid political speech.  He garnered 41 votes. Across the nation, efforts dubiously labelled as “Campaign finance regulations” sought to place limits on free speech.

The plutocrats of social media, the lifelong politicians who have become wealthy selling out America to foreign powers, and the campus fascists who tolerate no difference of opinion have pulled out all the stops to win this election. They have changed the voting rules, physically assaulted opponents in the streets, attempted to cripple the Trump Administration with absurd charges and impeachment attempts and relentlessly lied in print, on the air, and online.

And, we want to recognize if these enhancement products are useful enough? Yes and purchase levitra no would be the response. Many believe America is an exceptional nation. If the totalitarian forces are beaten back this election, that will continue to be true.  If not, then this great nation will have become just one more casualty of the age-old impulse of tyranny so vigorously and continuously embraced by the Left.

The threat to freedom is seen most clearly in the goal to “stack” the Supreme Court. Doing so would end the independence of the judiciary, and eliminate the whole concept of separation of powers that has preserved American rights.

During the 2020 presidential campaign, the reality of Joe Biden’s mental deterioration, his history of corruption, and his 47-year legacy in public office which produced nothing for the American people but a great deal of wealth for his family and himself was largely censored from public view. The unquestioned success of the Trump Administration in bringing peace to the Middle East, encouraging our Eastern European allies to maintain their independence, halting Moscow’s ongoing takeover of Ukraine, and getting NATO members to pay their fair share was completely ignored.

The use of Antifa and Black Lives Matter in a classic totalitarian move of physical intimidation has been scrupulously overlooked by a biased media.

Will American freedom survive? The answer should come on November 3.

Politicians and Pundits vs. The People

Several key elected officials have performed terribly in office, but the media has failed to react to their fiascos.

There is a distinct difference between the worldview held by politicians and most pundits, and that of the average citizen. The inability of the former to recognize the wisdom of the latter is seriously harming the nation.

Politicians and many of those who make a living out of writing or broadcasting about them focus on career issues, party politics, or furthering an ideological perspective. To some extent, that blinds them to the actual performance of the individuals in question. That has never been more clear than in the rapid decline of key American cities over the past several years.

The nation’s metropolises, particularly those administered by leftist and progressive mayors, have been besieged by nearly unprecedented disorder and maladministration in recent years. From coast to coast, mobs have burned, looted and assaulted innocents.  Rather than staunch the bleeding, mayors whose loyalty lies not with their citizenry or the law have stood by, too frightened of being accused of offending the supporters of groups such as Antifa and Black Lives Matter to do their job adequately.

In Portland, rioters have attacked a government office building as well as a federal courthouse. In Seattle, an entire portion of the city was completely taken over by leftist mobs.  In New York City, the most famed shopping districts were looted. The massive increases in shootings and other crimes have brought the Big Apple to its knees. In Chicago, the body count of murders resembles that of a small war.

It would be reasonable to assume that the elected officials at any level, and particularly those in the affected cities would move forcefully to both counteract the onslaught on their own, and accept any assistance they could obtain from Washington.

Find the best vodafone offers with Top seller smartphone – iphone 4s deals Versatile SMS is picking up ubiquity each passing day. purchase female viagra

Stunningly, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi called federal law enforcement agents “Stormtroopers” when they attempted to defend federal facilities from the rioters.

Chicago’s’ Mayor Lightfoot has criticized her own citizens who seek to defend themselves from criminals, and has opposed Washington’s assistance.  Seattle’s mayor failed for a prolong period to clear the invaders away from the district they occupied. Portland’s mayor is sympathetic towards Antifa. It is clear that New York’s mayor considers appeasing radicals more important than insuring law and order.

Those who have the front-line duty of protecting the residents of these and other besieged cities have been attacked by their own local governments. Police chiefs in both Portland and Seattle have resigned in protest. Both are female, and one is also black; any claim that these law enforcement heads are somehow biased on race or gender is ludicrous.  The New York City Police Force, almost universally recognized as the most fair, most professional and most accomplished in the world has, under the de Blasio Administration, become demoralized and hamstrung.

These Mayors, as well as Speaker Pelosi, have pushed aside the needs of the citizens and the local businesses that serve them. They have done so in the pursuit of their personal and party goals and loyalty, despite the massive harm it has caused.

One would assume that these acts of outright incompetence or malfeasance would be highlighted by a media that likes to consider itself a watchdog for the public good. But the reality is that most major outlets have abandoned their journalistic ethics and side with the leftist/progressive movement. The fact that the socialist goals invariably lead to disaster appears to be irrelevant to them.  The terrible practice of creating racial animosity adopted by the left to divide and conquer America is swept under the rug those who care more for promoting their preferred candidates and ideology than serving the public or preserving the nation.

The Bizarre Claim About Trump Being “Racist” Part 2

Judge John Wilson (ret.) provided this article exclusively to the New York Analysis of Policy and Government.

Did Trump praise white supremacists as “fine people?”  Here is what he actually said to a reporter on August 15, 2017 –

Trump: ‘Yes, I think there’s blame on both sides. If you look at both sides — I think there’s blame on both sides. And I have no doubt about it, and you don’t have any doubt about it either. And if you reported it accurately, you would say.’

Reporter: ‘The neo-Nazis started this. They showed up in Charlottesville to protest –‘

Trump: ‘Excuse me, excuse me. They didn’t put themselves — and you had some very bad people in that group, but you also had people that were very fine people, on both sides.'”

The President expanded on his answer in the same interview:

“(Y)ou had people — and I’m not talking about the neo-Nazis and the white nationalists — because they should be condemned totally. But you had many people in that group other than neo-Nazis and white nationalists. Okay? And the press has treated them absolutely unfairly.  Now, in the other group also, you had some fine people. But you also had troublemakers, and you see them come with the black outfits and with the helmets, and with the baseball bats. You had a lot of bad people in the other group.”

To quote Dennis Prager in Real Clear Politics, “(t)he president of the United States, Donald Trump, never said there were ‘fine’ Nazis or Ku Klux Klansmen… I cannot think of a lie of such significance that was held as truth by so many Americans, by every leading politician of one of the two major political parties and disseminated by virtually the entire media… (a)side from the clear evidence that the president never called Nazis ‘very fine people,’ isn’t the very idea preposterous? Trump has a Jewish daughter, a Jewish son-in-law and Jewish grandchildren. Nazis want Jews dead. How do all the New York Times columnists, CNN anchors and correspondents and Democratic officeholders who say the president called Nazis fine people and who believe the president is a white supremacist reconcile those two facts?  They don’t — because they can’t, and because they can get away with saying anything they want. When a nation’s media and one of the two dominant parties are in lockstep, they can lie all they want.”

Now, the Democrats and their media mouthpieces have doubled down on the lie.

In the first debate between President Trump and former Vice President Biden, moderator Chris Wallace asked President Trump (and not former VP Biden) if he would “condemn white supremacist and militant groups.”  President Trump answered “sure,” but apparently not satisfied, Chris Wallace continued:

“WALLACE: ‘And to say that they need to stand down and not add to the violence in a number of these cities as we saw in Kenosha, and as we’ve seen in Portland’

TRUMP: ‘Sure, I’m prepared to do it, but I would say almost everything I see is from the left-wing not from the right-wing. I’m willing to do anything, I want to see peace…’

WALLACE: ‘Then do it, sir.’

BIDEN: ‘Do it, say it.’

TRUMP: ‘What do you want to call them? Give me a name.’

WALLACE: ‘White supremacists and right-wing militias’

BIDEN: ‘Proud Boys’

Trump: ‘Proud Boys, stand back and stand by. But I’ll tell you what, somebody’s got to do something about Antifa and the left.’”

Completely ignoring Trump’s initial, unequivocal answer, both Moderator Wallace and Candidate Biden suggested a group to condemn.  When the President didn’t do so as plainly as his first answer, the media took this as further proof of their position.  According to CBS News,  “President Trump on Tuesday refused to unequivocally condemn white supremacists and far-right groups who have respondedto ongoing protests against police brutality and racial injustice, instead pinning the blame for violent clashes on the ‘left wing.'”

Yet, are the Proud Boys a racist group?

On their website, the group proudly proclaims “We do not discriminate based upon race or sexual orientation/preference.” The leader of the group, Cuban-American Enrique Tarrio, “has publicly denounced racism and white supremacy after detractors began conflating them with white supremacists in the wake of the first presidential debate.”    But regardless of these public positions, “’Let’s face it, if … you have anything other than a leftist opinion and point of view, you’re a white supremacist — doesn’t matter what color skin you have’”… said a Proud Boy who identified himself as UK2USAPatriot, one of a handful of Proud Boys who gathered with Trump supporters outside an invitation-only appearance by the president at The Villages (Florida) on Oct. 3.”

According to the Southern Poverty Law Center, the Poor Boys are a hate group.  However, that same group calls President Trump’s move to label Antifa a terrorist organization, “an unprecedented and alarming development with significant implications for the civil liberties of U.S. citizens, particularly those of color, who are already disproportionately policed.”

And so, the lies continue.

Is President Trump a racist?  I have no insight into his mind.  But from all the evidence presented here, the answer must be “not established.”  This answer would be good enough in any court of law to acquit any criminal defendant.  But in the court controlled by the media, even an unequivocal answer by the President is not enough.

The Bizarre Claim About Trump Being “Racist.”

Judge John Wilson (ret.) provided this article exclusively to the New York Analysis of Policy and Government.

A lie can travel half way around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes.”

                                                                                                                        Mark Twain

There are certain lies spread by the majority of the media, particularly those that favor the Democratic party.  One of the most pernicious is the claim that President Donald Trump is either a racist, or supports white supremacy.  This falsehood has no support in reality.  However, this has not stopped commentators from CNN, the New York Times, CBS News, and other left-leaning media outlets from repeating this lie.

Donald Trump met the Reverend Al Sharpton in the 1980’s.  Though Sharpton claims the two were “never close,”  according to Greg Richter at Newsmax, “National Review quotes a 2004 article in The Guardian in which Sharpton, then running for president himself, said he considered…Donald Trump, as a political supporter.'”  Richter also states that “a source close to Sharpton (says) that Trump gave Sharpton ‘anywhere between $20,000 and $150,000’ for his National Youth Movement, which became the National Action Network, and for his activism.”

Then there is Trump’s relationship with the Reverend Jesse Jackson.  Paul Bois writes in The Daily Wire that “(b)ack in 1998 and 1999, Trump worked with Jackson’s Rainbow/PUSH coalition to help offer a way to get African Americans into corporate America and improve their communities through building projects and jobs. Jackson praised Trump’s savvy business aplomb not once, but twice… (a)t another event a year later, Jackson introduced his ‘friend’ and thanked Trump for giving blacks a ‘face’ on Wall Street.”

Both Sharpton and Jackson have called Trump a “racist” in more recent years.  Yet, neither appears to have had this view of Donald Trump before he was elected president.

In August of 2016, shortly before the election, the New York Times published a piece insinuating that Donald Trump and his family had discriminated against African Americans by refusing to rent apartments to black tenants at Trump properties.  “(A)s Donald J. Trump assumed an increasingly prominent role in the business,” the article states, “the company’s practice of turning away potential black tenants was painstakingly documented by activists and organizations that viewed equal housing as the next frontier in the civil rights struggle.”

The tree is eulogized as “mochaka” as it gives relief (mochana) from many diseases. online viagra pills The psychological reason added on top of viagra cheap prescription the organic reason may cause more events of impotence than if the man is getting enough sexual stimulation. Surveys have proved that it improves sexual desire by working via the nervous price tadalafil tablets system that tells your body when you are aroused. But according to Alberto Martinez of the New Standard Press, “(b)y 1974, the DOJ had collected accusations (formal, informal, and hearsay) by 43 accusers (named and unnamed) against 38 employees (out of hundreds) of Trump Management in 20 properties (out of 39), during 14 years. Three of them blamed Fred Trump. None of the 43 accusers blamed Donald Trump; there’s no evidence that he created or carried out discriminatory policies. In 1975, the Trumps began policies of affirmative action renting…(f)inally, the DOJ closed the case for ‘lack of evidence’ or new complaints.”

While The Times admits this was the outcome of the investigation, they continue to support the lie refuted by the facts –  “While there is no evidence that Mr. Trump personally set the rental policies at his father’s properties, he was on hand while they were in place, working out of a cubicle in Trump Management’s Brooklyn offices as early as the summer of 1968.”

How old was Donald Trump in 1968?  22 years old.  Did young Donald have control of the company?  No.  Did a single complainant identify Donald Trump as having discriminated against them?  No.  Yet, if you follow the logic of the New York Times, if you work for a company that is accused of racist policies, even if an investigation finds no wrongdoing, you still must be a racist.

This tautology has been used throughout the Trump Presidency.  In 2017, when a group of alleged “white nationalists” protested the removal of a Confederate statute in Charlottesville, Virginia a group of “counter-protestors” fought with the original protestors.  In condemning the violence, President Trump made these remarks:  “we condemn in the strongest possible terms this egregious display of hatred, bigotry and violence. It has no place in America. And as I have said many times before, no matter the color of our skin, we all live under the same laws, we all salute the same great flag and we are all made by the same almighty God…(r)acism is evil and those who cause violence in its name are criminals and thugs including neo Nazis, white supremacists and other hate groups that are repugnant to everything we hold dear as Americans.”

Yet, it has repeatedly been reported that President Trump refused to condemn “white supremacy” and praised white supremacists as “fine people.”  For instance, in commenting on Joe Biden’s statement on the riot, CNN reported as follows; “The former vice president entered the race with a video that…chose to highlight the President’s reaction to white supremacists’ August 2017 march in Charlottesville and the killing of a counter-protester.  Trump responded to the violence by claiming there were ‘very fine people on both sides.’  ‘With those words, the President of the United States assigned a moral equivalence between those spreading hate and those with the courage to stand against it,’ Biden said in his announcement video.”

The Report concludes tomorrow.

Foreign Policy Update

United Arab Emirates

The State Department announced this week the initiation of “The Strategic Dialogue,” which was developed to enhance bilateral ties and solidify the strategic partnership between the US and the UAE. The launch of the inaugural Strategic Dialogue demonstrates “Emirati and American resolve to advance efforts to promote regional stability and cooperation as partners in peace,” according to Department officials. It will cover a number of key areas, from political coordination and defense cooperation to economic and cultural exchange, with the broad aim of advancing mutual policy interests, solving regional issues, promoting tolerance, and countering extremism.

Myanmar

The United States announced nearly $200 million in additional humanitarian assistance provided in Fiscal Year 2020 for Rohingya refugees, host communities in Bangladesh and other countries in the region, and internally displaced Rohingya and other crisis-affected communities in Mayanmar, including those who fled ethnic cleansing in Rakhine State. The United States remains the most generous financial donor to the Rohingya crisis response to date.

China and Russia Cyber Challenges

“The emergence of a new era of great power competition has raised the stakes in the cyber arena,” according to Assistant Secretary of State for International Security and Nonproliferation Ashley Ford. Adding to the problems we already faced from cyber criminality, Ford said the US now also must address a “new layer of geopolitical threat from the revisionist powers of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) and Russia.” These are states that Ford pointed out as using cyber tools to steal technology to build up their military capabilities, to prepare for devastating attacks upon our critical infrastructure in the event of crisis or conflict, to carry out disruptive cyber attacks aimed at destabilizing our allies and partners, and to influence and manipulate our electoral processes.

Last year Secretary of State Pompeo  notified Congress of the Department’s intention to spend $20.8 million to create a new Bureau for Cyberspace Security and Emerging Technologies (CSET).  Although the Department has staff working on cyber issues it still is waiting for Congress to approve the plan it submitted in May 2019.

Earlier this week the Department of Justice (DOJ) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced criminal charges against six officers of the Russian General Staff Main Intelligence Directorate’s (GRU) Military Unit 74455, once again  highlighting Russia’s continuing disruptive, destructive, and destabilizing activities in cyberspace. The DOJ and FBI joint statement said: “this Russian military intelligence unit unleashed some of the most destructive malware the world has seen… and [has] caused billions of dollars in damage across Europe, Asia, and the Americas.”

Human Trafficking

On Monday Secretary Pompeo led the third meeting of the President’s Interagency Task Force to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons, which includes 20 agencies across the federal government.

This year’s Presidential Award for Extraordinary Efforts to Combat Trafficking in Persons was presented to A21 North Carolina for its work to reduce vulnerability and provide essential aftercare services to survivors, and to the Navajo Nation for its leadership in preventing and combating human trafficking in Native communities. Covid-19 restrictions means that groups involved in stopping human trafficking have been restricted in their activities in 2020, making it harder to help. In the coming months, a new Department initiative in human trafficking will provide up to $3.5 million in foreign assistance funds to support organizations operating in rapidly changing environments and facing the short- and long-term impacts of COVID-19.

“The State Department’s largest anti-trafficking program – the Program to End Modern Slavery – is a step closer to helping us understand the magnitude of human trafficking” according to a statement from Secretary Pompeo. He added that the Department will continue to “strongly condemn the Chinese Communist Party’s egregious practice of forced labor, among other human rights abuses, as part of its campaign of repression against Uyghurs and members of other ethnic and religious minority groups in the Xinjiang, and throughout China… This horrific crime cannot continue to threaten the safety of communities and individuals, and we will push forward in defeating it.”

China: The Greatest Threat

China may, or may not have, deliberately unleashed the deadly virus consuming the world’s attention and resources, but what is certain is that the Chinese Communist leadership failed to consider its impact on America’s attitude toward China. Washington is “woke.” Three months ago Christopher Wray, Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, called China “the greatest long-term threat” to the economic vitality and national security of the United States. This week leading Republican legislators introduced a 25-page bill into the US Congress called the China Task Force Act. It contains 137 key China-related recommendations. The bill, introduced by House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) and Rep. Michael McCaul (R-TX), aims to stop a US policy of accommodation toward China.

“For more than 40 years, we have seen China’s ruthless rise in power result in attacks on freedom and human rights around the world. And for far too long the United States’ policy of accommodation, as underscored by the Obama-Biden administration, has only continued to enable the Chinese Communist Party’s brutal dictatorship,” according to a statement released by Rep. McCarthy. He also called on Congressional Democrats to join the effort to call out and hold China accountable. The bill states that “The United States’ goal should be the end of the CCP’s monopoly on power, rather than indefinite coexistence with a fundamentally hostile communist state.” China is sure to react negatively to this legislation is given the CCP leadership’s announced intent to remake the world ideological in its image.

The origin of the US legislation goes back to at least last spring when Congress began an organized investigation into China’s maleficent behavior. In May a 15-member group in Congress formed the China Task Force with the goal of examining Chinese human rights abuses against its domestic minorities, influence operations in the US, attempts to steal American technology, threats to US national security, and China’s role in the global spread of the COVID-19 virus, among other issues. Originally intended as a bipartisan committee, all Congressional Democrats originally involved dropped out in an effort to avoid criticizing China. The Committee continued its work with the resulting legislative measure introduced this week. It includes recommendations such as moving critical industrial chains back home, modernizing the U.S. military, and sanctioning the regime for its human rights violations.

In a press release Tuesday, October 20, Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) announced that the resolution…

  1. Recognizes that the People’s Republic of China (PRC) currently poses the greatest foreign threat to United States peace, security, and stability;
  2. Recognizes that the PRC, regardless of future leadership, will likely continue to be a major rival of the United States in the coming decades, due to the enormous cumulative size and scale of its population, economy, and military capabilities; and
  3. Supports the Trump administration’s overall strategic approach to the PRC, grounded in principled realism and firm-but-measured competitive engagement whenever United States national interests are at stake, that has been outlined in sources including but not limited to:
    1. the United States Strategic Approach to the People’s Republic of China (May 2020)
    2. the National Defense Strategy of the United States of America (October 2018);
    3. the National Cyber Strategy of the United States of America (September 2018);
    4. the National Security Strategy of the United States of America (December 2017).

The resolution points out that China has maintained a massive trade surplus over the United States by manipulating its currency and maintaining unreasonably high tariffs, among other tactics. It also acknowledges that China routinely pressures US companies entering its market to cede their intellectual property and market licensing rights and frequently carries out cyberattacks on United States companies to steal trade secrets or other sensitive information it cannot obtain by other means.

Cyberattacks originating from China target not only private sector firms in the US but also directly threaten US Government and defense operations, academic institutions, nonprofit organizations, and American citizens. Chinese has access to the personal data of most US citizens.

The Religious Vote

This article was contributed exclusively to the New York Analysis of Policy and Government by noted radio personality and legislative expert Ted Flint.

With the media intently focused on Covid-19 and the faltering economy left in its wake, there has been less attention paid during this election cycle to social issues. Religious voters, particularly evangelicals, helped to propel Donald Trump into the White House four years ago. And those voters again could be the difference in a tight election. It’s true that the candidate voters perceive to be the best at handling the economy usually wins, but there are other issues critical to conservatives.

When Christians enter the voting booth they need to know which of the two candidates supports protecting religious liberty and which, if elected, would curtail that liberty. The differences between the two candidates couldn’t be starker. When it comes to protecting the sanctity of unborn human life and traditional marriage, Donald Trump is the clear choice. The President, through his nominees to the U.S. Supreme Court, has proven his commitment to protecting life. The Democratic Party Platform, by contrast, declares every woman should have access to “safe and legal abortion” and calls for restoring federal funding to Planned Parenthood and providing taxpayer-funded abortion through repeal of the Hyde and Helms Amendments and the Mexico City Policy.

The 2020 DNC platform draft says religious freedom is a “fundamental human right” that nevertheless cannot be used as a cover for discrimination.” But congressional democrats find certain religious freedoms discriminatory, that’s why they are proposing the “Do No Harm Act’ as a way of restricting those freedoms. Their legislation would limit current religious freedom protections under the Religious Freedom Restoration Act. For example, a healthcare worker who opposes the contraceptive mandate, or a doctor who refuses to perform an abortion, would not be covered under the RFRA.

According to the Catholic News Agency, “The draft 2020 platform also supports reinstating the Obama Administration’s transgender mandate. It condemns the Trump Administration’s “dangerous and unethical regulation allowing doctors, hospitals and insurance companies to discriminate against patients based on their sexual orientation or gender identity.” A federal judge recently put a stop to the Trump Administration’s rule protecting doctors who conscientiously object to performing gender-transition surgery or abortion.

The DNC platform also supports the HHS contraceptive mandate put in place by the Obama Administration that forces employers to cover contraceptives in employee health plans.

Elements within the Democratic Party seek to deprive non-profits of their right of conscience, as evidenced by lawsuits filed by the states of Pennsylvania and New Jersey against the Little Sisters of the Poor, a Catholic order of nuns at the center of the controversy.

In July, The High Court ruled The Trump Administration acted within its authority when it expanded exemptions to the Affordable Care Act’s requirement for employers to provide insurance coverage that includes contraception, resulting in a victory for Little Sisters of the Poor and for religious liberty.

On marriage, Donald Trump supports marriage between one man and one woman. Joe Biden, who supported the Defense of Marriage Act in the 90’s, is onboard with same-sex marriage and even officiated a same-sex wedding ceremony four years ago for two White House staffers. Strange, considering Biden is Catholic. And there’s the irony. Many of today’s democratic lawmakers, both at the state and federal level, are Catholic, or at least profess to be. The Democratic Party Platform supports late-term abortion, same-sex marriage, LGBTQ rights and opposes vouchers for private schools because they divert taxpayer dollars away from the public school system. Many Catholic schools directly benefit from expanding private school vouchers.

According to World Atlas, nearly one out of every four Americans is Catholic. Will Catholic voters take into consideration the stances taken by Joe Biden and other democratic lawmakers when they head to the polls November 3? The reality is that just about everything for which the Democratic Party stands is in direct contravention to Church teaching.

Marxists Allege they are “Morally Correct” Even When Factually Wrong, Part 2

In his exclusive report to the New York Analysis of Policy and Government, Judge John H. Wilson (ret.)  concludes his examination of how Marxists insist they have the moral high ground despite their unconscionable record.

The philosophical concepts of moral realism and moral relativism are probably way over the heads of people who may support the philosophy, including Rep. Ocasio Cortez and most of the people involved in the recent anti-police protests and riots.  But there is a political philosophy that makes extensive use of moral relativism which had many adherents, including the Congresswoman from New York.

Retired Professor Ted Keller writes that “I agree with…identifying relativism as consistent with Marxism…unless Marx’s axioms are interpreted relativistically they don’t constitute a theory…” Further, according to the German philosopher Friedrich Engles, the long time collaborator with Karl Marx, “the three classes of modern society, the feudal aristocracy, the bourgeoisie and the proletariat, each have a morality of their own… we can only draw the one conclusion: that men, consciously or unconsciously, derive their ethical ideas in the last resort from the practical relations on which their class position is based… We therefore reject every attempt to impose on us any moral dogma whatsoever as an eternal, ultimate and forever immutable ethical law on the pretext that the moral world, too, has its permanent principles which stand above history and the differences between nations.”

Besides making a clear statement of the morally relative posture of communism, Engles also wrote that “(c)ontradictions in thought are…to be removed by replacing the thought-structure with the superior Marxist alternative, which is supposedly free from such debilitating consequences.”

Therefore, not only are ethics and morals dependent upon which class you are a member, but any doubt you may have about the truth of your beliefs regarding those ethics and morals can be removed by strict adherence to Marxist thought.  You can believe that even if your tax proposal does not fund the initiatives you support, you are using the collection of taxes to redistribute the wealth from the rich to the poor.  You also can believe that even though a police officer is justified in defending himself against a dangerous criminal, the larger system of policing is nothing more than a product of systemic racism.

Effect: Astragalus see description viagra pfizer prix sweet nature, there are qi and yang, harmonize stomach, lungs and fluid, expectorant effect, attending the spleen and stomach weakness, spontaneous sweating, inflated, ulcer does not collapse, swelling back detoxification and so on.

There is a word for allowing contradictions in your views to be replaced with a Marxist alternative – doublethink.

The term “doublethink” comes from 1984, the novel by George Orwell published in 1949.  “Orwell defines doublethink as, ‘To know and to not know, to be conscious of complete truthfulness while telling carefully constructed lies, to hold simultaneously two opinions which cancelled out, knowing them to be contradictory and believing in both of them, to use logic against logic, to repudiate morality while laying claim to it, to believe that democracy is impossible and that the Party was the guardian of democracy. To forget, whatever it was necessary to forget, then to draw it back into memory again at the moment when it was needed, and then promptly to forget it again, and above all, to apply the same process to the process itself.'”

Sound familiar?  “According to research of the Soviet Union, the process of doublethink is also present…people are made to believe in the ideals of Communism when they are younger.  But as they get older, they realize the faults in the system and believe the opposite of what they’ve been taught.  However, they keep their beliefs to themselves because of their fear of getting in trouble with the government.”

If we are to understand the seemingly meaningless ramblings of Ocasio Cortez, and to derive any sense from the slogans chanted by the protestors and rioters that besiege cities like Portland and Seattle, we need to know the communist underpinnings of their positions.  Once we learn that these people are engaged in morally relativistic doublethink, we can see the real dangers they pose to our free society.
