Must-See Propaganda

To many, particularly those in the millennial demographic, there are important sources of information that are not compliant with the admittedly weak and frequently ignored journalistic ethics of television news programs.

Indeed, the practice of replacing accuracy with propaganda in television extends far beyond nightly news programs.

The extraordinary media obsession to push left-wing perspectives has received scrutiny because of its tendency to replace objective reporting with one-sided and frequently inaccurate coverage. The most recent examples of this practice could be most prominently seen in the treatment of two stories, the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh and the arrival of the illegal immigrant caravan at the U.S. southern border. Baseless accusations against the Judge were breathlessly relayed without any attempt to employ reasonable journalistic standards such as fact-checking. After the nominating process was completed, it became clear that the salacious stories about him were untrue. In the case of the caravan, network and cable news programs have ignored the reality that a lion’s share of the participants are military-age males, some of whom have unsavory connections.

It has long been discussed that for some, late-night comedians are a source of information about candidates and news stories. In 2014, a Pew Research Center Fact Tank analysis noted that “Pew Research Center’s recent report on Americans’ media habits finds that a portion of online adults get their news from two Comedy Central staples, The Daily Show and The Colbert Report. And other studies have shown that people do, in fact, learn from these programs while they laugh…  on par with such sources as the Wall Street Journal and USA Today… nearly a quarter (22%) of 18- to 29- year-old males say they got news about politics and government from The Colbert Report in the previous week… Roughly a quarter (26%) of consistent liberals reported getting news about government and politics from The Colbert Report… That is far more than other ideological groups. In fact, a mere 1% of consistent conservatives say they get news from the show. The share of consistent liberals who get news from The Colbert Report is similar to that of The Huffington Post (29%) and CBS News (30%)…”

It’s not just humor-seeking audiences that consider comedians’ views important. Frequently, the latest jibes from Saturday Night Live shows becomes prominent areas of discussion in political circles, and not infrequently, comments made by imitators of political figures become more well-known than actual quotes from the politicians themselves.

The worrisome trend has expanded beyond programs that have at least a pretense of involvement with actual news, and now extends to television entertainment drama series.

The program “Designated Survivor” presented a prime example. The original idea that it was Middle Eastern terrorists is, of course, discredited.

This lunatic-fringe series is not alone.  The latest “24” reboot characterized veterans as burned-out psychotics, a consistent theme of the Obama Administration, which in a report libeled veterans as more of a threat than actual terrorists.  Newsbusters notes that 24 “caricatures [veterans,] shows every single vet on the show as broken in some way. Even in small scenes, such as when we see a group of homeless veterans hanging out under an overpass, complete with garbage drum fire…The liberal critics have already expressed displeasure that the bad guys are radical Islamists. Funny, though, there haven’t been any objections to how our military veteran heroes are portrayed. Hollywood and its critics are so predictable. They don’t want to insult the radicals in the Muslim world but it’s no problem to slam the good guys.”

The various NCIS and similar crime dramas have a frequent plot line.  A horrendous crime or terrorist act is planned or perpetrated, and the obvious villains, be they Middle Eastern suspects or illegal immigrants tied to criminal organizations, are wrongly accused.  The real bad guys turn out to be American right-wingers. In many forms and variations, the story-line is repeated over and over again.

Ben Shapiro, in his book “Primetime Propaganda, outlined how television executives have utilized prime-time television to push left-wing agendas and have not been particularly shy about using McCarthy-like tactics to discriminate against and harass anyone who disagrees with them.

The scope and arrogance of this practice is truly Orwellian.

China’s Hollywood Takeover

The Summer movie blockbuster season is here. One thing that can be unfortunately counted on: you will not see a lot of films with patriotic views on American history being offered.  There’s a reason for that.

There is a new and disturbing fact about an issue The New York Analysis of Policy and Government has previously reported on.  We have noted that China’s influence over Hollywood  continues to grow, and it is neither paranoid nor inappropriate to examine what this means for the independence of America’s signature art form, and whether this is leading to a pandering by movie personnel, both in the boardrooms and in front of the cameras, to foreign interests.

The Wall Street Journal reports that “Chinese President Xi Jinping’s recent consolidation of power has placed China’s film division under the Communist Party’s Ministry of Propaganda…Until March, China’s film bureau had been part of a government agency independent of the party, the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television, whose job was to regulate content, including censoring films and scheduling theatrical releases. President Xi’s decision to place film operations under party control, coming just before the all-important summer movie season, adds a new layer of uncertainty for studios already struggling to adhere to China’s complicated, fast-changing rules. In his rise to power, President Xi has understood the power of cinema, whether he is encouraging citizens to move to cities with shiny new theaters or blocking American films containing objectionable themes. The reorganization appears to formally acknowledge the role of film as a tool that must be managed by the party.”

China is far more sophisticated than the old Soviet Union, or even Vladimir Putin’s Russia, in its bid to expand its influence and gain a domineering presence across the planet. While the USSR and today’s Russia lean heavily on military strength, Beijing’s rulers fully understand the concept of “soft power,” and that includes the extraordinary role that movies play in shaping the opinions and perspectives of people across the planet.  This applies particularly to the United States, where movies retain a key role in popular culture.

Hollywood moguls, never known for their moral standards, will now pander even further to Chinese censors for two main reasons.  First, they do not wish to offend a potential big-bucks investor in their industry.  Chinese companies have invested $4.5 billion in Hollywood assets. Second, the lure of selling tickets to China’s billion-plus citizens inhibits them from producing films that Beijing censors will keep out of the world’s most populous nation.

Business Insider notes that “Hollywood studio productions will… increasingly be made by China—or rather, by Chinese companies investing in Hollywood.”

These are two different medications with different cialis on sale forms, flavors and dosages. An NBC Today review notes that “If you got to a movie theater right now, there’s a pretty good chance that the film you see will have been partially financed in China.” Correspondent Ronan Farrow outlined how that influences the scripts of the movies Americans watch.

To understand how China’s investment provides influence for the Beijing government, it must be understood that Chinese companies are subservient to and work diligently for China’s foreign policy. That, however, is only part of the story.  The appetite for films in China’s largest-in-the world population is vast, and even those Hollywood studies not financially dependent on China have a significant financial interest in producing movies that appeal to their worldview, even if that is detrimental to American interests.

Politico provides another example of the interrelationship between Chinese companies buying major stakes in Hollywood and Beijing’s political goals. Dalian Wanda is a Chinese firm that has intimate ties to the Chinese Communist Party, and it is intent on making major purchases of Hollywood assets.

Politico asks “For American moviegoers, the peril lies in the unseen. Would a war movie called South China Sea ever play in one of Wanda’s theaters? What about an action flick with a Chinese villain?…When you control the movie experience, you can subtly influence public opinion. And the Chinese government — Wanda’s staunch supporter — has been transparent about that goal. The Communist Party has banned or currently bans thousands of books deemed controversial. It heavily censors the Internet, while Facebook and Twitter remain prohibited in China — one of the reasons Freedom House ranked it a more restrictive society than Iran and Saudi Arabia.”

Roseanne’a Cancellation: Left-wing Authoritarianism

The decision to cancel Roseanne Barr’s TV series following her inappropriate tweet is wholly inconsistent with Hollywood’s tolerance for the most brutal, threatening, racist and sexist remarks made against President Trump, members of his administration, and conservatives in general.

The message is clear and unambiguous:  While left-wingers are free (as all Americans should be) to say anything, Americans will be penalized for criticizing them.  If a Republican, a middle-of-the road politician, or a conservative makes an off-color remark, or one that simply states the truth in a harsh manner, he or she will suffer serious consequences.  As Daniel McCarthy wrote in National Review: “Beware the rise of left-wing authoritarianism: for too many in the chattering classes, the imaginary fascism of Donald Trump … excuses the real-world censorship and intimidation practiced by the illiberal left.”

Since the 2016 election, a stunning quantity of offensive and occasionally violent remarks have been made about President Trump.  The purveyors of these comments have not suffered any significant consequences.

Where are the cancelled contracts and media outrage following Johnny Depp’s public fantasy of assassinating the President? Or Whoopi Goldberg’s dream of torturing Trump? Or Keith Olbermann’s ongoing and obscene rants? Why is there no Hollywood pressure against the comics who belittle the President’s wife, or call his twelve-year old son a “rapist” and “homeschool shooter?” Bill Mahr has described the President as an “Orangutan” and that’s apparently ok with the show biz crowd.  In fact, actors like Robert De Niro frequently call Trump an “idiot,” insulting not only the President but those that voted for him, and that seems to be acceptable.

Why are sexists and racist comments against women and people of color within the Trump Administration such as Press Secretary Sarah Sanders, Deputy Press Secretary Raj Shah, Second Lady Karen Pence, and HUD Secretary Ben Carson apparently ok with the media? When Joey Behar alleged that Vice President Pence had a mental illness because he was a Christian, she didn’t lose her job or have her show cancelled.

Ben Shapiro writes: “The left likes to bully, and it’s good at it…if you’re a conservative in Hollywood you stay underground for fear of firing…as [director] Nicholas Meyer…told me when asked about [anti-conservative] discrimination in Hollywood, “Well, I hope so.” Or as [producer] Vin DiBona…explained to me, “I think its probably accurate [that there’s anti-conservative discrimination] and I’m happy with it actually…”

Writing in The Atlantic Caitlin Flanagan notes that “somewhere along the way, the hosts of the late-night shows decided that they had carte blanche to insult not just the people within this administration, but also the ordinary citizens who support Trump, and even those who merely identify as conservatives.”

There was a clear drive to rein in Roseanne’s show, in which pro-Trump comments, to the utter dismay of Hollywood power brokers, were included.  Shortly before the program was cancelled allegedly in response to Ms. Barr’s tweet, it was announced that the show would be less political in upcoming seasons.  When the star of the program rebelled against that, another excuse had to be found to get her off the air, and that excuse was found. It’s similar to the rather unconvincing reasons the successful Tim Allen program, “Last Man Standing” which also contained pro-conservative quips, was dropped.

In a nation guided by the First Amendment, comments, even those that are tasteless, about political figures should be protected.  Increasingly, that’s not the case for anyone left-wing power brokers dislike. From universities, where centrist and conservative speakers are chased off campus, frequently through violence, to the mainstream media and Hollywood moguls, there has been established a climate of fear and repression aimed directly at those who refuse to kowtow to leftist beliefs. It is a profound danger to the future of freedom in our land.

Slandering Veterans

Hollywood continues to insult veterans. A review of the television season just ended provides a number of examples.

The series “Designated Survivor”   presents a prime example. A group consisting of (surprise!) military veterans and Second Amendment types are revealed to be the perpetrators of a crime in which almost the entire body of U.S. elected officials were assassinated while attending a State of the Union address.

This lunatic-fringe series is not alone.  The latest “24” reboot characterizes veterans as burned-out psychotics.

None of this new, nor is it restricted to Hollywood. Slandering America’s veterans has been an obsession, amounting to a mental disorder, on the part of Progressives and the Left for far too long. Under Barack Obama’s Secretary of Homeland Security, Janet Napolitano, U.S. veterans returning from Iraq were labelled as more of a security threat than Islamic terrorists.  By the way, Janet Napolitano is currently the head of Berkley College.  In her new role, she has refused to take steps to confront left-wing terrorists who have committed acts of violence and intimidation against those who merely seek to invite non-progressive speakers on campus. The College Fix notes that “500 University of California alumni joined over twenty organizations in requesting that UC President Janet Napolitano ‘adopt a number of measures to rein in anti-Semitic acts against students…’”  Despite her tolerance of anti-Semitism, and DNC Deputy Chair Keith Ellison’s history of anti-Semitism, there are no TV scripts casting them as villains.

Defamatory portrayals  of veterans cause real harm. A Breitbart study  explains that “…images matter, especially when veterans try to find employment after coming back home. Last year, the Center for a New American Security surveyed 69 companies on why (or why not) they hire veterans. Not surprisingly, more than half said negative stereotypes gleaned from media and popular culture made them wary of bringing veterans aboard…”

A Los Angeles Times  article notes that “Studies show that the public can have skewed views of veterans based on what’s seen in film or on television, said Chris Marvin, executive director of Got Your 6, [a group dedicated to helping veterans.] Dave Philipps, writing in the The New York Times  in 2015, relays how veteran activist Chris Marvin worries that “We believe that the way veterans are portrayed on the screen is the way the will be thought of in the living room and the way they will be treated in the community.”

The reality is that Hollywood’s moguls ignore reality, about veterans as well as anyone or any group who doesn’t share their progressive politics.  They refuse to back off their politically-correct and reality-challenged view of the world.  It isn’t veterans who are rioting on city streets or college campuses—it’s the professional (and frequently paid) radicals and misinformed and inaccurately educated college leftists who engage in storm-trooper tactics.   It isn’t the NRA or the American Legion that seeks to censor, through violence or intimidation, anyone they disagree with. It’s the Progressives that own that monopoly.

The defamatory portrayals of veterans, while giving a free pass to Islamic extremists, totalitarian leftists, and the drug cartels who entered the nation during the Obama open-border era, is reprehensible.

That’s Propaganda, Not Entertainment

Censorship can take many forms.  In some regimes, books are burned, in some others, nonconforming authors are jailed.  In America’s academic, mainstream news, and media culture, one side of the political spectrum is crowded out of the marketplace of ideas, not by government, but by the over-politicized and hyper-biased elites within university leadership, editorial boards, and Hollywood power brokers. “Progressive” positions are force-fed to the public in classrooms, news broadcasts, and entertainment venues.

That bias is exceptionally prevalent in the entertainment industry.

A National Review examination notes, “If you think liberal media bias is strictly an issue for the New York Times and the Washington Post, you haven’t looked at your average entertainment site lately. Nearly every major Hollywood news site leans left. It has been that way for some time, but in recent years it has gotten worse… Reporters routinely cover Michael Moore like he’s a truth-teller, not a hard partisan. This is hardly a new problem.”

Warner Todd Hudson, writing in Western Journalism, notes:  “It is well known that …Hollywood … is anti-conservative. Let’s just take a few examples in recent movies. In 2010 the director of the then in production Captain America movie suggested that his Cappie would not be a flag waver.” Further, the studio intended to take the “America” out of the title for overseas distribution. That same year the movie Machette portrayed whites as racists out to murder Mexicans, Roger Ebert said that Americans are all racists, and Whoopi Goldberg wondered why anyone would think Muslims might be terrorists. There are certainly too many cases of Hollywood bias to report in this small space…Episodic television is no different than Hollywood in its attacks on the right. For a few examples: NCIS featured a story about terrorists not long ago. Of course, the terrorists were white people mad at US government failures, not Muslims. The series Medium created a character evoking comparisons to the law-and-order Sheriff Joe Arpiao in Arizona. Only the TV show’s version was a child rapist and murderer… naturally. This is not to mention the bias belched out by the chicks on The View on a daily basis…there is, of course, one religion that the Old Media attacks with regularity: Christianity. The anti-Christian bias in the media is endemic…attacks on football player Tim Tebow’s religion [are] a prime example.”

The entertainment industry apparently believes that it’s never too early to start the indoctrination. Hudson reports that “comic books are demeaning conservatives in yet another example of the media attacking the right. For just a very few examples, we had the Captain America comic that portrayed the Tea Party movement as dangerous and anti-American, the Batman comic that portrayed Muslims as heroes…Unfortunately, comic books have for a long time been filled with anti-conservative themes.”

Examples of Progressive perspectives being force-fed through entertainment are voluminous. Many of the scripts of this years’ television dramas, including Designated Survivor, Homeland, 24, the various iterations of NCIS, read more like political screeds than action-adventure dramas.  In one recent instance, an entire episode of Designated Survivor was almost entirely dedicated to an hour-long endorsement of gun control, complete with portrayals of Second Amendment advocates as dishonorable characters.

The particular Weekender best tadalafil promises being more efficient as it assures a performance period of 36 hours. Hollywood’s transformation into a leftist propaganda machine has angered some actors, who have both the courage and the standing to expose the repressive environment without fearing for their careers. The popular television actor Tim Allen has compared the environment for those who do not share the progressive views of the Hollywood elite as being similar to that of Nazi Germany.

Andy Kiersz and Hunter Walker, writing in Business Insider, provide  “quantitative proof” of Hollywood bias by demonstrating the almost total domination of donors to left-wing causes vs. centrists and conservative causes.

Some publications covering the entertainment industry have reported on the matter. Paul Bond, writing for The Hollywood Reporter reports that TV Executives have admitted, while being  interviewed for a new book,  that Hollywood pushes a liberal agenda. The book makes the case that TV industry executives, writers and producers use their clout to advance a liberal political agenda. The author bases his thesis on, among other things, 39 taped interviews… Leonard Goldberg — who executive produces Blue Bloods for CBS and a few decades ago exec produced such hits as Fantasy IslandCharlie’s Angels and Starsky and Hutch — [admits] that liberalism in the TV industry is ‘100 percent dominant, and anyone who denies it is kidding, or not telling the truth.’ Author Shapiro asks if politics are a barrier to entry. ‘Absolutely,’ Goldberg says.

“When Shapiro tells Fred Pierce the president of ABC in the 1980’s that ‘It’s very difficult for people who are politically conservative to break in”to television, he responds: ‘I can’t argue that point.” Those who don’t lean left, he says, ‘don’t promote it. It stays underground.'”

Stephen Galloway, who is liberal, also discussed the issue in the Hollywood Reporter: “In an astonishing reversal of Hollywood history, just as liberals here once considered themselves an endangered species, so do conservatives today. They no longer are free to talk in the open, because they feel — rightly — we’re no longer prepared to listen… And that worries me. Because nobody should be afraid to speak. Freedom of speech means freedom for all, for our opponents as well as ourselves.

Hollywood’s power brokers are, of course, free to push whatever causes they believe in.  That’s the right guaranteed by the First Amendment.  But their oppressive tactics against those within their industry that have differing views is an affront to the entire American tradition of free speech.

Progressives Continue Campaigning Long After Elections Conclude

The New York Analysis of Policy and Government concludes its review of the differences in how Leftists vs. Centrists and Conservatives seek to influence the public.

Hollywood has a firm ally in academia. As noted in Mark Davis’ study, “Upside Down,” “A degraded education system and a poisoned culture make millions of Americans easy targets for indoctrination by the Left. A morally and intellectually malnourished generation soaks up liberal platitudes from television, on the internet, and the classroom.”

The stunning acts of academia’s sheer outrage against the results of the 2016 election, which proved a major disappointment to Progressives, are numerous. Consider the following examples: A CBS affiliate in Boston  reports that the Hampshire College Board of Trustees made a “decision to lower the U.S. flag on campus to half-staff in the wake of the presidential election–and then decided to remove the flag entirely after a wave of backlash.”

WND  noted that the Campus Reform publication found that “Professors at the University of New Hampshire are calling for the expulsion of two students who counter protested an anti-Trump rally…”

While students were being harassed on some campuses for supporting the results of a fair election, other campuses were doubling down on their support for leftist extremism. The New York Times found that Progressive radical Cornel West is returning to teach at Harvard. West is renowned for making statements such as this quote from Open Democracy “The American Empire is more ripe for a counter-revolution …This is so primarily because of the deep xenophobic roots in the country and profound militaristic sentiments in the culture. Hence, progressive social momentums and chaotic social rebellions are more likely to reshape our priorities and gain some concessions from greedy elites and callous citizens.”

Having get viagra sample a morning sex is an excellent idea to bring the sexual satisfaction. It is an FDA viagra pills from canada approved medication utilized in treating mild to severe impotence.
Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich has urged that “alumni and trustees of private colleges and universities…organize committees for American education. They should insist that their schools require courses be taught without the usual extreme leftist bias of most professors, and that every one of their students graduates with a firm grounding in American history.” The former speaker’s advice is worthwhile, but the reality is the bias begins even before college.

Some high school teachers have inappropriately drafted their students into left-wing causes. The New York Post found that “A group of maverick history teachers at elite Beacon HS in Manhattan let their kids skip class Tuesday to join a Trump Tower protest…Roughly 200 kids from the Hell’s Kitchen public school were granted hooky passes at 11 a.m. and joined students from across the city to disparage The Donald…Beacon parents were never alerted and only found out about the impromptu field trip from their kids, according to sources…Chancellor Carmen Fariña sent a sympathetic note to teachers and administrators Monday. ‘The outcome of the presidential election has left many youth and adult members of our community feeling confused or anxious,” Fariña said. “Undocumented immigrants and their families, LGBTQ students and staff, Muslims, and members of other religious, racial, or ethnic groups may be feeling particularly vulnerable during this time.”

Centrist and conservative Americans tend to reduce the level of their attention, time and energy directed towards political endeavors following the conclusion of the election cycle, whether they win or lose.  Their progressive counterparts, however, through popular culture and education, recognize no such cease-fire. As a result of decades of skillful manipulation of public opinion through entertainment and education, many Americans, particularly the young, have had an inadequate grounding in any opinions, arguments or facts other than what they have gleaned from left-leaning professors and performers.

The situation is growing even more one-sided as many social media giants increasingly seek to minimize any material that doesn’t subscribe to progressive orthodoxy. The opportunity to reach substantial portions of the public who have had only limited exposure to a broader range of opinion is becoming quite limited. Unless centrists and conservatives grasp that far more is required than just engaging in periodic political campaigns, the United States will become a far different nation, one with a culture and a set of beliefs substantially different from what they prefer.

Progressives Continue Campaigning Long After Elections Conclude

The New York Analysis of Policy and Government begins a two part examination of the contrast between Left wing vs, Centrist and Conservative attempts to influence the public.

Americans dissatisfied with the dismal results of “Progressive” leadership and concepts during the eight years of the Obama Administration are content with the defeat of Hillary Clinton, who based her campaign on promises to continue along the same path. For most voters, the election is over, and they assume that the left will, eventually, at least recognize the legitimacy of the new Administration, even if they vehemently disagree with its policies.

The facts indicate otherwise. Indeed, for many on the left, elections are only brief and episodic engagements in the much larger war of transforming American culture and political thought. For them, the true battleground is in not the voting booth. Rather, it’s in the halls of academia and in the boardrooms of media moguls.

While Republicans and conservatives produce (frequently boring) analyses based on facts, Constitutional law and historical precedent, the Left produces humorous skits, emotional appeals, and riveting entertainment that, despite the results of the 2016 campaign, have proven far more effective in capturing the hearts and minds of the public.

And this technology takes another step in the right direction by tackling one cialis professional india of the biggest problems in healthcare; time, or lack thereof. Progressives have produced narratives that dominate the air waves.  Look at many popular television shows, which, while works of fiction, produce an environment that subtly, and sometimes not so subtly, advances their arguments and candidates.  In the worldview they create, traditional figures and beliefs are frequently the bad guys, hypocrites hiding behind patriotism, paternalism, capitalism and religion. The heroes conveniently resemble, both ideologically and physically, the leading progressive candidates.  In the period when Obama was initiating his presidential run, the president on the sensational TV thriller “24” was a liberal African American.  In the run-up to Hillary Clinton’s candidacy, an entire TV program, “Madam Secretary,” centered around a female Secretary of State.  Heading into the 2016 election, a storyline on the hit show “Designated Survivor” portrayed those worried about Islamic terrorism—a pointed reference to Trump—as blinded by bias. What a coincidence!

The tilt toward the left is most apparent in the realm of comedy. An article in The Atlantic noted: “the brand of comedy [liberal Jon Stewart] helped invent is stronger than ever. Stephen Colbert is getting ready to bring his deadpan smirk to The Late Show. Bill Maher is continuing to provoke pundits and politicians with his blunt punch lines. John Oliver’s Last Week Tonight is about to celebrate the end of a wildly popular first year…Stewart, Colbert, Maher, Oliver and co. belong to a type of late-night satire that’s typically characterized as liberal, skewering Republicans (and, less frequently, Democrats) …“The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, Funny Or Die, and The Onion, while not partisan organs, all clearly have a left-of-center orientation,” wrote Jonathan Chait in The New Republic in 2011…”

The extraordinary shortage of conservative themes in most regularly scheduled programming is too significant and has continued too long to be coincidental. It is fascinating to note that in the late forties and fifties, when some Hollywood figures with ties real or imagined to Communism were subjected to blacklisting and investigations, is, though long past, frequently the subject of film and TV productions and discussions, while the decades-old and current discrimination against those with conservative viewpoints goes largely unheralded. In 2011, Ben Shapiro’s book, “Primetime Propaganda” detailed the reality of Left-wing exclusionary tactics in the entertainment industry. the Hollywood Reporter reviewing the tome, noted: “TV industry executives, writers and producers use their clout to advance a liberal political agenda.” The author bases his thesis on, among other things, 39 taped interviews…” One video Shapiro released “has producer-director Nicholas Meyer being asked point-blank whether conservatives are discriminated against in Hollywood. “Well, I hope so,” he answers…” Shapiro found that “Television has been perhaps the most impressive weapon in the left’s political arsenal.”

The Report concludes Monday.

Hollywood’s Persistent Bias

The new television season has opened with yet another entry perpetuating the repeatedly disproved leftist myth that the U.S. military is led by warmongering generals eager to start conflicts at any cost, including overthrowing the civilian leadership.

The drama “Designated Survivor” features Keifer Southerland as Secretary of Housing and Urban Development who, after a devastating attack on the Capitol during the State of the Union address, is the only one left alive in the chain of succession, and therefore becomes President.

Immediately, of course, the Chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff seeks to initiate, without solid evidence of culpability, a war with Iran, while at the same time secretly plotting to overthrow America’s civilian government. This is a replay of a mindless and groundless bias that, like all irrational prejudices including those based on race or gender, persists despite a complete lack of evidence to substantiate it.

Despite an unbroken string of being disproved by facts, Hollywood’s ridiculous bias against America’s military leadership, those that support it, and anyone with a dedication to keeping the nation safe persists.  Reality plays no role in this prejudice.

Consider how so many talked up the “Nuclear Freeze” movement. It turns out that it was the exact opposite of that type of thinking that stopped the Cold War. Quite the contrary. It was President Reagan’s push to vastly expand U.S. military might that was a crucial factor.

Remember the nonsense about (either) Bush going to war with Saddam Hussein in order to take over Middle Eastern Oil, at the behest of the “Military-Industrial Complex?” The fact that it never happened hasn’t resulted in any apology by the media moguls who helped propagate that whopper.

How about the gibberish still pushed by the thespian class that the Pentagon consumes the lion’s share of the federal budget? If they deigned to read Washington’s budget, they might actually learn that it consumes only about 14% of spending.

Of course, there is Hollywood’s ongoing plot line, resurrected again in “Designated Survivor” and in films such as “Seven Days in May” that the military (in some scripts, the CIA) is just itching to take over the country, despite the fact that the past eight years have certainly derailed that plot line.

The Obama Administration, throughout its two terms in office, has presented leadership so dangerously feckless—or worse—during its time in office that even if a shred of inclination existed on the part of the defense establishment to engineer a coup, it certainly would have done so by now.

They always calculate their ovulation and have sex at that period. purchase levitra online From his first days in office, Mr. Obama and Secretary Clinton (who, during her tenure as First Lady, openly displayed contempt for the armed forces and even the civilian Secret Service, had staff sneeringly dismiss Lt. General Barry McCaffrey by saying “I don’t talk to military,” as reported by the Washington Post) overturned the policies and practices that helped win the Cold War and had kept the U.S. safe since the end of WW2.

The two, in their “Reset” with Russia, surrendered America’s lead in nuclear weaponry, and betrayed key intelligence assets of our closest ally, the United Kingdom. They cut the Pentagon budget. They implemented the dismissal of key military personnel, including not just top leaders but also some Army colonels even while they were serving in Afghanistan, and Navy chief petty officers as well.

The Obama Administration, despite overwhelming and persistent evidence, continues to ignore or underplay the reality of Islamic extremism’s attacks on American soil.

The President and his two Secretaries of State reacted with callousness when the Ukraine and the Philippines were attacked by, respectively, Russia and China. The U.S. (and assailant Russia) had a treaty commitment to Ukraine’s territorial integrity, but Mr. Obama ignored persuasive nonviolent means at his disposal, opting instead for little more than symbolic sanctions. In the case of the Philippines, the White House didn’t even lodge a firm diplomatic protest.

Mr. Obama and Secretary Clinton’s nonchalance and deception in the face of the terrorist assault on the American facility in Benghazi that resulted in the assassination of several Americans including Ambassador Stevens was a thorough display of their lack of regard for those who serve in either a civilian or uniformed capacity. The lack of any attempt at a rescue was followed by outright lies about the motive for the attack. The day after the assault, the President flew off to Vegas for a fundraiser.

When Russia militarized the Arctic, the President did nothing.  When the Russian Navy began to visit Cuba again, Mr. Obama actually rewarded the Cubans by reopening diplomatic relations. When Russia began landing its Tupolev nuclear bombers for refueling in Nicaragua after their patrols of the U.S. coasts, the President did nothing.

When his first Secretary of State, Ms. Clinton, was found to have aided the transfer of uranium (the key ingredient for nuclear weapons) to Moscow, the President did nothing.

The list goes on. If there ever was any intention on the part of American military leadership to interfere with civilian government, it would have occurred during the past eight disastrous years. But they did not because, unlike Mr. Obama and his crew, they are dedicated to the Constitution.

But don’t expect that reality to stop the mindlessly biased Hollywood crowd from propagating more and more slanderous nonsense about the men and women who lead and serve in our armed forces.
